Does anyone remember that calendar I did for graphic design last year? If not, it's in my gallery somewhere... Anyways, my teacher had me print out a nice copy of it and he said that he's going to hang it up at the school's open house tomorrow night and see if he can sell some copies of it. I mean, he told us last year when he assigned the project that he wanted to sell them but I didn't know he was serious. So yeah, I'm pretty excited about the possibility of getting paid for my graphic design stuff even though I'm only in high school (I mean, I do stuff for my dad occasionally but he pays me in iced coffee haha).
When my AP teacher saw my calendar, she told me about this other AP art class called AP 2-D Design. I guess it's similar to AP Studio Art in its requirements (breadth, concentration, quality), except that you can use digital work and photography. They don't offer it at my school but she said if I was interested, she may be able to work something out next year where I have class with the AP Studio kids but I have different projects to work on.
So there's this National Portfolio Day thing this Sunday that my art teacher was telling me about. I guess you bring your portfolio and show it to different college admissions reps and they give you advice on what to work on in order to get into their school. I really want to go because I think it'll be a useful experience for me and then I have a whole year before I start applying to colleges to improve my portfolio. I told my mom about it and she mumbled something about my dad having plans on Sunday...? I don't know haha. I'm sure they don't want me driving down to an unfamiliar city *alone* since I'm so prone to getting lost
Okay, one last thing before I end this. Last week, this woman from an art school in a neighboring state came to talk to my AP class. After the presentation, I was talking to her and my teacher about college. She asked me if I knew what I wanted to major in so I told her graphic design. She and my teacher seemed a little surprised that I hadn't picked something more drawing-related. After a little bit of talking, she recommended that I look into illustration. That way I can utilize my drawing abilities while still having the digital aspect of graphic design. My art teacher seconded this recommendation. So yeah, I still want to do graphic design but now I'm starting to consider either a double major or a minor in illustration.
EDIT: I went and found links to my calendar:
Jan-April [link]
May-Aug [link]
Sept-Dec [link]
Deviant Art shrinks them since I put four months in each deviation but in actuality, each one is about 10" X 14". Oh, and while getting the links and seeing each one, I honestly don't remember seeing July in pile of printed ones I did today

btw my docotors appointment got canceled and my dad forget to tell me....and forgot to pick me up apparently =/
Well that was nice of him
